Well another spring day in Western New York with snow! I think this is means it's candle weather, so stop in a grab yourself a piece of spring in one of our scented candles. Since we can't seem to shake winter I went ahead and poured North Woods a mix of Bayberry and Pine, these scented candles will remind you of a hike through the Adirondacks. For those of you stressed out about taxes come in and get Serenity Candle a blend of Ozone, Jasmine and Musk. A great way to unwind after going over the figures. Hope to see you soon.

Scents for your Senses

It may not feel like Spring outside but inside Wick-edly Sent Spring has arrived in our richly scented soy jar candles with some new and exciting scents for your senses. New to our line is Ginger Fig, a nice addition with the sweet soothing spice of warm Ginger combined with the hearty and complex fruit notes of Fig for a unique fragrance that lingers in your memory! We have also jazzed up our Jasmine by adding Waterlily to the mix creating a soft floral that will waif through your room and engage your senses. North Woods, let your mind take a stroll through the Adirondacks and my favorite Sunrise bursting with berries and grapefruit. All of these should be on the website soon. Stop in and give you nose a treat!

Early Mornings at Wick-edly Sent

Holly from 13 WHAM visited our store on Friday 6th in the early morning. For those that were still asleep we have attached a link to the video. It was a great visit highlighting the aroma bar and our richly scented soy candles that are popping with spring colors and scents. Thank you to Nicole Mahoney from the Canandaigua BID for setting up the visit. WHAM also visited our neighbors, Wildflowers, ICON and Stellas. All were great sports in getting up extra early for the broadcast but it was alot of fun!

Burning your scented candles

Sometimes we forget the basic principles of burning our soy scented candles. We have customers who praise our candles and tell us that they burn all the way through, while some tell us that the candles leave a well down the middle or leave black soot.

While some batches may differ due to scents, wicks, temperatures while pouring, and other factors, the only other reason may be not following the basic principles of burning candles.

Here they are:

1. Keep away from drafts. Sometimes we don't pay attention to where are candles are placed while burning. While they may be visually appealing on the dining room table, on the fireplace, or near the window, feel and see where a draft might be influencing a burn.

2. Trim the wick. Trim the wick 1/4 inch, or what you feel best suited. You'll see sometimes a mushroom top on the wick before you trim it. This will reduce black smoke and or soot.

3. Leave a candle burning for at least a few hours, we recommend 3-4 hours at a time. When you burn a candle for only an hour or two, you'll actually see the burning pool point, or memory burn. This expands the longer you burn the candle. So if it only burns for a short time, it will continue with a well, burning down before it reaches the end of the jar.

4. Remember, NEVER burn a candle unattended.

We hope that you follow these basic steps to burn a jar candle properly. This steps should work with any candle, not just ours, and remember, if there is still a problem, it may be due to the batch itself.
